2023/24 Review
When the Lord called Craig and Michelle to provide a solution to mental ill-health in Australia, they initially felt overwhelmed that the need was too great. Truthfully, the need is large. But with God, social challenges can be transformed one person at a time. God was not looking for the best qualified. Rather He was exploring their ‘Yes’. In the Kingdom your ‘Yes’ always trumps your capacities. Your YES means, “I am ALL IN!’ When the need is larger than your capacity, it is exciting to be fully dependent upon the Lord.
The work of Healing Path to Wellness continues to build as they enter their fifth year of work. It is exciting to see the work of HPTW developing more touchpoints across the city. They are celebrating victories of breakthrough and expansion, whilst standing on the promises of God for areas that are not yet fulfilled. Michelle’s health is an ongoing challenge, as she recovers from the impact of long-COVID. They are standing in the knowledge that Jesus is the solution, and manage each day as they navigate the journey through. Psalm 84:6 is a great encouragement to them and many when challenges arise, looking for pools of blessings amidst season of pain. They stand on the confidence that the nature of God is always to heal. The art therapy arm has developed excellent links with welfare departments of high schools, offering a five-week program for students with high to very high levels of psychological distress. Excitingly, their recent data showed a 14% reduction in psychological distress and the school noted a 70% reduction in emotional outbursts following the sessions. What also impressed them was the social connections created by the sessions. The group of students, often isolated at school, have continued to gather improving their social inclusion. HPTW successfully won a grant to launch the first Lake Macquarie Suicide Prevention Safe Space this year. Sadly, the number of deaths by suicide in our health district (together with Central Coast) are the highest in the nation. The advantage of a non-clinical space offers an alternative space for people negatively triggered by clinical environments to navigate situational crisis amongst those with lived experience of suicide. In 2024 HPTW will be launching the first Lake Macquarie non-clinical Suicide prevention safe space for people in situational crisis this year. They also hope to expand their services to additional high schools, offering the art therapy program for students in psychological distress. They will continue to work with a range of mental and emotional ill-health conditions trusting God for breakthrough including schizophrenia and PTSD. |

Reflux healed
For the past few months a guest had been having increasing oesophageal reflux troubling him especially after eating tomato based foods. One afternoon a few weeks ago the team prayed for him and since then, he has not had any troubling symptoms. It is a radical improvement! Chilli con Carne is now back on the menu!! Praise God! |
Heart infection healed
A guest recently attended her cardiologist appointment and confirmed some very good news. The antibiotics and prayer had healed a heart infection that was a size of a grapefruit on a congenitally defected area of the aortic valve, requiring grafting, on her heart. The infection was no longer evident. The cardiologist was really surprised of how quickly the infection resolved as graft infections can take multiple doses of antibiotics and possible surgery to resolve — so the power of prayer accelerated the process dramatically. |
Hope found
‘All I can say what an incredible ministry Healing Path to Wellness is. I felt like a massive burden has lifted off my shoulders and to have no fear about the future. I feel like I can just leave everything to God now and release it to him without a doubt now. All the traumas we’ve had in the past 5 or so years, I was treading water trying to breath, and wondered where God had gone. Through sozo, God showed me he was there, and I didn’t have the capacity to see that. So I really want to thank you for giving me hope, peace and love for people again.” |
