Operation Foundation (OF), led by Peter and Jill Schultz, is a restorative organisation bringing renewal and transformation in the lives of prisoners and their communities in Fiji. Since 2006, they have been engaged in rehabilitation efforts with inmates and ex-inmates in Fiji.

2021 Review

The last two years of COVID have been some of the richest years of ministry for OF. Their focused effort of illustrating OF’s core values of ‘service’ and ‘consistency’ suddenly opened new doors as Fiji and its people came under pressure.

In May 2021, at the height of the pandemic and lockdowns in Fiji, OF were approached by the Nanuku community for support. The community consisting of some 2,500-3,000 people is a red zone (drug trafficking/prostitution, deep poverty, and social problems). Late in 2021, OF purchased a building with the community to rebuild as the OF Community Ministry Centre. Many of OF’s ex-prisoners are connected to the community or similar neighbouring communities, and so it’s a natural extension of the OF ministry to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families and communities.

2022 Support

With most COVID-19 restrictions lifted in 2022, the western arm of Operation Foundation has begun running Step Out Step Free classes, starting with a few young men from the community. The impact on their lives has been remarkable, and plans are in the pipeline for follow up bible studies and mentorship once the program has been completed. We look forward to the continued growth in the new journey these young men have embarked on, and the changes they will bring to the communities around them.

Additionally, your support will assist OF with establishing the Community Ministry Centre in the Nanuku Community. The centre will serve as a gathering place of positive influence and an example of Godliness to the community. OF are hopeful that the centre will be open and operational by mid-year.

Your support of $10,000 will
  • Establish the OF Community Ministry Centre, Nanuku, including a church plant.
  • Excess giving could also help to purchase OF Navua Ministry Centre and new ministry vehicles

Testimony

The Nanuku community approached OF in May 2021 at the height of the pandemic and lockdowns in Fiji. Prayerfully we assessed the situation and decided to move ahead despite the restrictions and risks.

We pulled the community together into developing a new vision for their community, began community clean-ups and new footpath projects, and began to engage the at-risk youth.
One standout conversation was from the young men selling drugs who came as a group one day and said, "Brother Peter, we know what you are doing here, and we know what you stand for; so when are you starting a church here and how we can we join in?"
It's been one step forward and five steps back at times, but we continue to demonstrate OF's investment and engagement into the community so that the gospel is seen and experienced even in the darkest of places.
